This presentation was delivered on July 29, for the #pseweb conference in Toronto, Ontario. Here’s the description of the talk:
Planning the governance, architecture and content of a website can sometimes feel like a sci-fi trilogy. With stakeholders, HiPPOs and your gut all giving you conflicting ideas, where do you take the first step?
I’d like to share Laurentian University’s web journey over the last few years in a concise tale that will help you navigate your own landscape. Now with proper governance, relatively efficient architecture and custom content workflows, Laurentian.ca has positively impacted the University’s goals and is something the organization can count on.
Following the external website’s evolution, this story starts off on a relatively deserted, hostile planet, travels through committee wars and finally, achieves peace through data driven decision making.
